Serving the Lord - A Conscious Act

Written by Paulo Pereira

The history of the Hebrew People is all a great odyssey, with countless events and all of them are centrally based on Faith. The Faith of a People in their God, a story of suffering and joy, of deep love and betrayal, of unique episodes, which test the courage and determination of the Chosen People, because the Lord only counts on those who, through the course of their lives, were tested and tried, passed through the fire of purification, and were obedient to the law, and by their works and faith, the blessings of heaven were attributed to them for righteousness and justice, “the example of Abram, when in obedience to the command of the Lord, offered up his son Isaac, which is in the likeness of God and his only begotten Son (...).

But throughout this journey of tribulations, they were not alone, because everything that has happened and is happening has the purpose of preparing the people to receive their inheritance, because someone who receives a great inheritance and has done nothing to deserve it, does not know what to do. with it, and it ends in a short time, because I don't work and don't know the value of the inheritance. And the Lord's desire is to have an industrious, creative, hardworking and integral people, who respect what the Lord gives them, and truly, we will only know all things, after we descend below all things, or by the grace of the Master. , who made this journey for us.

As the Lord told the Prophet Joseph Smith Jr when he was in Liberty Jail, Missouri

D&C 122
7 And if thou shouldst be cast into the pit, or into the hands of murderers, and the sentence of death passed upon thee; if thou be cast into the deep; if the billowing surge conspire against thee; if fierce winds become thine enemy; if the heavens gather blackness, and all the elements combine to hedge up the way; and above all, if the very jaws of hell shall gape open the mouth wide after thee, know thou, my son, that all these things shall give thee experience, and shall be for thy good.
8 The Son of Man hath descended below them all. Art thou greater than he?
9 Therefore, hold on thy way, (…) fear not what man can do, for God shall be with you forever and ever.
Jacob 4:7 Nevertheless, the Lord God showeth us our weakness that we may know that it is by his grace, and his great condescensions unto the children of men, that we have power to do these things.
Jacob 4:8 (…) great and marvelous are the works of the Lord. (…)

So it was, when the People were freed from their captivity in Egypt, for 40 years they wandered in the wilderness, seeing the Lord, that they were a stiff- necked people, constantly murmuring against God and his representatives and leaders Moses, Aaron, among others, even after witnessing countless miracles, rocks that were split and water came out, bread that fell from the sky, but even so, this generation did not qualify to enter the promised land. When that entire generation died, the Lord commissioned Joshua to lead the Lord's People into the Promised Land, but before crossing the Jordan River, Joshua addressed the congregation in the camp and told them to decide at that moment whom they wanted serve.

Joshua 24:15 (…) choose you this day whom ye will serve; (...)

Today, as in the days of Joshua, we are challenged, “choose this day whom you will serve” (...) but as for me and my house, we will serve the Lord.” Joshua 24:15

Because also, now in our days, we are called by the Lord to work in His work, which forces us to make choices, as we cannot be on both sides of the river at the same time, neither can we serve two masters at the same time.

3 Nephi 13:24 No man can serve two masters; for either he will hate the one and love the other, or else he will hold to the one and despise the other. Ye cannot serve God and Mammon.

CHOOSING TO SERVE THE LORD IS A CONSCIOUS DECISION OF GREAT RESPONSIBILITY, WHICH IMPLIES MAKING AGREEMENTS WITH HIM.

By obedience to the laws we shall be justified, and it shall be reckoned to us as righteousness and justice. That is why “we believe in Christ, we follow Christ, we adore the Father in his name (...) we keep the law.

The Lord says that the gospel of the kingdom will be preached throughout the world:

Matthew 24:14 And this gospel of the kingdom shall be preached in all the world for a witness unto all nations; and then shall the end come.

When he was among us,

Mateus 4:18 And Jesus, walking by the sea of Galilee, saw two brethren, Simon called Peter, and Andrew his brother, casting a net into the sea: for they were fishers.
4:19 And he saith unto them, Follow me, and I will make you fishers of men. (...) humble and uneducated men.

THEN “LEAVING THE NETWORKS SOON, THEY FOLLOWED HIM”

They did not question the Lord where we are going, or what we are going to do, what I do with my business, they immediately followed him.

The Lord, as when He gave the invitation to the Apostles of the Early Church, knew that they, at that time, would not be prepared for this so noble and amazing work, yet He says, I will make you fishers of men...

Just as in the days of Jesus Christ on earth, today the invitation is open and is maintained, however the Lord, like the Apostles of the early Church, knows all our weaknesses and difficulties, and knows that we are not yet ready, in the However, as in the past, the heavens have now opened and the necessary knowledge and instructions will be poured out on us to enable us to reach that level of spiritual development that makes us irreproachable before heaven.

And I will make with you (...) a Celestial Society,

“…a society of holiness, where their citizens would live in their hearts all the principles of purity required by God and be a holy people.” (Moses 4:41)

This development will not be instantaneous, but will be the result of hard work, dedicated to study and a heart devoted to the things of God. Yet we must look to these words addressed to the Apostles of the Early Church, Come after me, and I will make you fishers of men (...)

What qualifies us as workers for your work is described in Doctrine and Covenants 4

1 Now, behold, a wonderful work is about to begin among the children of men.

2 Therefore, ye that embark upon the service of God, see that ye serve ye with all heart , might, mind, and strength, that ye may present yourselves blameless before God at the last day.

3 Therefore, if ye have a desire to serve God, ye are called to work;

4 For behold, the field is already white for the harvest ; and, behold, he that thrusteth in his sickle with vigor layeth up a reserve , so that he does not perish, but brings salvation to his soul;

5 And faith, hope, charity and love, with an eye single to the glory of God, qualify him for the work.

6 Remember faith, virtue, knowledge, temperance, patience, brotherly kindness, godliness, charity, humility, diligence.

7 Ask, and ye shall receive; knock, and it shall be opened unto you. Amen.

“SEE, SEE THAT YOU SERVE HIM WITH ALL YOUR HEART, MIND AND STRENGTH” so that you may present yourselves blameless before God at the last day.

In D&C 133:7 The Lord says the time has come to leave Babylon (...)

As Paul says in Ephesians 3

1 “For this cause I, Paul, am the prisoner of Jesus Christ for you Gentiles;” Like Paul, we too are prisoners in the Lord; prisoners of this Noble Cause, which is to guarantee the Establishment of Zion, the United Order, a Celestial Society, guarantee that the Lord's desire for these days , is fulfilled, because he has placed this responsibility on our shoulders, we may be imperfect, but as obedient children and with complete trust in the Lord, we will fulfill... because this is our mission, this mission, which we still receive in heaven!
“And the anointing you received from him remains in you, and you do not need anyone to teach you; but as its anointing teaches you all things, and is true, and is no lie, as it has taught you, so you shall abide in it.” (1 John 2:27)

and having, by our faith, in times that are not recorded among men, yet, not even in our memory, qualified us for this great work which is a wonder, a madness in the eyes of men, because they do not understand it.

And, like rare diamonds, we were placed in different countries and in different generations, to be called at the time determined by God, so that the Father's work might be established among men, let us then do what is required of us, that we may be worthy of this great work, let us seek the things of God.

In D&C 75:2-5

2 Hearken, O ye who have given your names to go forth to proclaim my gospel, and to prune my vineyard.

3 Behold, I say unto you that it is my will that you should go forth and not tarry, neither be idle but labor with your might—

4 Lifting up your voices as with the sound of a trump, proclaiming the truth according to the revelations and commandments which I have given you.

5 And thus, if ye are faithful ye shall be laden with many sheaves, and crowned with honor, and glory, and immortality, and eternal life.

the feelings of Charity; Enthusiasm; of Spirit; Renunciation to endure adversity; Benignity; Compassion; Faith; Mildness and Self-control qualify you for this work.

We live, talk and think daily in the greatest love story since there is a record in time and beyond. Because the entire history of humanity is based on the unconditional love of the Father and His Only Begotten Son for their children, the children of men.

Let us be honorable men, let us honor our Father and Mother permanently, honor our commitments.

In the grace and love of Jesus Christ, Amen.

As it is in Hymn 319

D&C 133

O Elders of Israel,

with me, I searched

The righteous from distant lands call,

In distant shores, everywhere,

Causing them to come to Zion to rest.

Farewell Babylon, we're leaving;

Holy mission we must fulfill.
